Jeremy Lago fulfilled a life long dream when he and his wife Kathryn opened the doors of The Pantry  in April 2014 after months of renovating, refurbishing and rebranding the existing storefront they purchased.

Growing up on a hobby farm in Elora and spending time at his grandparents farm, Jeremy had a love and appreciation for the good, honest, simple things in life from early on.

He began working at restaurants during school, then travelled the country working at hotels in Banff and restaurants on the east coast until he returned to Ontario to attend Sommelier school in 2000. He then put his knowledge to work as Assistant Sommelier at Langdon Hall and, then, Sommelier at the Millcroft Inn. A number of years later, Jeremy moved to Toronto and worked at some of the best wine restaurants in the city.

Jeremy had another passion, however. Cheese!

In 2011 Jeremy began training to become a professional Fromager, and completed his Fromager certificate in 2014.   He proceeded to set his sights on having his own demonstration of the passion he has for local artisan cheeses and products … which culminated in the opening of The Pantry in his own neighbourhood.

Jeremy loves making cheese, and when he’s not at his shop he’s making cheese at home. (When he and Kathryn married in 2013 Jeremy used his own cheese for their  ‘Wedding Cheese Cake’.)

Jeremy is more passionate and knowledgeable than ever now that he is part of the artisan cheese community.  When you meet him you’ll recognize a man who is doing what he was meant to do. Come and meet him and see.
